Legal Representation

Legal and natural persons that provide service of representation in the proceedings for protection of industrial property rights before the Institute must be entered in the respective register of representatives kept by the Institute.

Foreign legal and natural persons exercise their rights in proceedings before the Institute only through a representative authorized to represent and who is enrolled in the appropriate register maintained by the Institute.

In proceedings before the Institute, legal and natural persons (hereinafter referred to as clients) can be represented by patent agents and agents for trademarks, industrial designs and indications of geographical origin (hereinafter referred to as representatives for trademarks).

Patent agents represent clients in all proceedings for the protection of industrial property rights prescribed by the Patent Law, Trademark Law, Law on Industrial Designs, the Law on the Protection of Indications of Geographical Origin and the Law on the Protection of Topographies of Integrated Circuits.

Representatives for trademarks represent clients only in cases concerning the protection of industrial property rights stipulated by the Trademark Law, Law on Industrial Designs and the Law on the Protection of Indications of Geographical Origin.
