Herzegovinian tobacco entered in the International Register of Appellations of Origin

Mostar, June 1, 2020 - "Herzegovinian Ravnjak Tobacco" is entered in the International Register of Appellations of Origin in accordance with the Lisbon Agreement for the Protection of Appellations of Origin and their International Registration, which is maintained by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) based in Geneva.

The holder of the right to the appellation of origin is the Association "Duvan Hercegovački Ravnjak" from Grude.

Herzegovinian tobacco is one of 13 products with protected geographical origin in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and along with Herzegovinian honey, it is the only one that has the name of Herzegovina in the subject of protection.

The protection of Herzegovinian tobacco with a geographical indication protects its originality and value, which can be the basis for the future role of Herzegovinian tobacco in the development and promotion of Herzegovina and partly an opportunity to revitalize the areas where this culture thrives.

With this entry in the international register of appellations of origin "Herzegovinian Ravnjak Tobacco" became the fourth protected name from Bosnia and Herzegovina. The international register also includes "Herzegovinian honey", "Cazin chestnut honey" and "Romanija skorup cream".
